Building Sector

Work carried out includes drafting of contract terms, estimates for feasibility studies, cost evaluation of project design, preparation of budget estimates, cost plans, contract documents for competitive tender, negotiation of contracts, evaluation of work for payments, cost control, reports and forecasts, reporting to funding bodies, settlement of final accounts and claims, and estimates or allocation of costs for grant, rating and shared development purposes.

The Practice provides a full Principal Designer service to meet the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. The service includes advising the Employer on the competence and experience of Designers and Principal Contractors, preparing project specific Pre Construction Information for the construction phase and the Health & Safety Files for the operation and maintenance of the completed building.

The Practice acts as Project Co-ordinator/Employer’s Agent on contracts for building works and specialist equipment installations. The service covers liaison with lawyers, commenting on and incorporating third party legal charges and warranties, setting up and reporting for funding agreements, assessment of potential development sites and assisting with purchase negotiations, arranging latent defects insurance, negotiating and incorporating development approval conditions, co-ordination of planning, design, construction and commissioning.

Project Management and Quantity Surveying services have been provided on the following types of current or recent projects, which include industrial estates, food processing facilities, defence establishments, offices, medical centres, shopping and supermarket developments, car showrooms, petrol service stations, bank premises, housing, sheltered housing, nursing homes, restoration of listed buildings and churches.

Engineering Sector

Petrochemical work carried out includes:

Evaluation of work, preparation and settlement of claims on behalf of contractors for fabrication, welding and weld radiography of steel piles for jetties.

Site preparation works; chemical production unit; utilities building; and an administration and laboratory block have been completed.

A fast-track procurement route was adopted with competitive tenders obtained for individual packages of the Works in order to meet tight construction programmes and strict budget limits.

Offshore Oil Installation work carried out includes:

Analysis and settlement of a claim arising from the construction of 8 No. modules for the Piper field; evaluation of man hours; and settlement of costs for module rig out pipe work.

Analysis and settlement of a claim for un-productive hours incurred on the molecular sieve module pipe work for the Fulmer Gas Field.

Marine work carried out includes:

Evaluation of work and preparation of the Final Account on behalf of a contractor for dredging and reclamation work at Tees Storage Jetty No.3

Electricity generation work carried out includes:

Project Management and Quantity Surveying services in connection with Design & Build Contracts to install Archimedean Screws on the Rivers Ure and Nidd.
