Yarm Medical Centre

Project Brief: As part of the estates strategy of the local trust the medical practice had to be relocated into a new integrated Primary Care Centre to accommodate the growing patient list as the existing premises were being outgrown.

One of the main challenges was to accommodate the building on the existing site all whilst providing the level of car parking associated with a building of its scale and without the need to purchase any additional land. Teigh + Co ensured this was delivered by the inclusion of a decked car park making use of the existing site levels which was comprehensively costed and value engineered prior to any tender process.

The practice had six GP’s at the time of the initial consultation and a patient list of 9,500. Being a training practice, provision for four Consulting Training Rooms was also part of the brief as was the inclusion of a PCT wing with a separate reception to provide ancillary services and a Pharmacy.

Project Summary:

The completed development provided a high quality, low maintenance, durable building which achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating all whilst maintaining an appearance in keeping with the local character of the nearby High Street.
